EOZEN and ENERPAL GROUP close a strategic wind turbine supply agreement at 180 million euros.
EOZEN, a company dedicated to manufacturing and marketing wind turbines and large blades for the wind energy sector, has closed a strategic agreement with ENERPAL GROUP for supplying wind turbines, which has been valued at a total of 180 million Euros.
The agreement permits EOZEN to supply 1.5 MW wind turbines to ENERPAL GROUP for development in the wind farms in the region of Castilla y León. Construction of the first wind farms will begin in the Palencia province in the final quarter of 2008. The alliance also ensures the supply of wind turbines from Enerpal Group, therefore enabling them to develop their ambitious wind energy plan.
The signed supply contract secures the entry of ENERPAL GROUP into the national wind energy market. It has set aside sufficient capacity to install 120 MW over the next three years, overcoming difficulties currently prevalent in the international market for the supply of wind turbines, with delivery timeframes exceeding 24 months.
Managing director of ENERPAL GROUP, Oscar Herrero, stated that: "This agreement, which is the result of work put in from both companies over the past months, will serve to strengthen Enerpal Group’s presence in the wind sector in both the country as a whole and Castilla y Le&oacuite;n as a region, particularly through these first 120 MW." He also claimed, "This agreement marks the starting point to a strong and durable relationship between the two companies; one which seeks to increase and accelerate the rate at which we implement our ambitious plans for expansion in the wind energy sector through companies which are 100% Spanish."
With this first development in Castilla y León, EOZEN is set to strengthen its presence in the national market, once its first supply contract with Iberdrola Renovables, the top global wind energy developer, has been closed. EOZEN recently completed its first commercial series, after beginning operations a year ago in its production centre in Ferreira (Granada).
Manuel Alguacil, president of EOZEN, showed his satisfaction with the start of operations in Castilla y León, stating, "This agreement with ENERPAL GROUP confirms our determination to invest in wind energy development in Castilla y León. It is a real landmark in the dynamic growth plan that we are developing in the national market."
One step further in wind energy development in Castilla y León
ENERPAL GROUP wind farms will bring a new boost to the ambitious wind energy development plan in Castilla y León, which currently has 110 wind farms in operation. The development of these new farms will contribute to gaining respect from the Regional Energy Body in the Castilla y León Economy Council which aims to increase the current 2,367 MW to 6.369 MW in the coming years. The wind energy sector in Castilla y León has created more than 3,000 direct jobs, it has generated the creation of over 450 companies and has captured the investment of 2,200 million Euros.
A new generation of wind turbines for the wind energy sector
With over 15 years experience in the wind energy sector, technology developed by EOZEN enables it to manufacture direct-drive, permanent magnet synchronous wind turbines which have a nominal power of 1.5 MW. EOZEN commercialises these wind turbines in the Spanish market and in the main international markets.
EOZEN wind turbines meet the strictest grid connection standards as they have sufficient capacity to cover voltage dips and remain connected in the event of external short circuits, thus improving the stability of the electrical grid. This technology has already been successfully tested in Germany, Canada, China, Poland, Bulgaria and Pakistan.
